''Now, those of you who know Safiya's character might be wondering why I put her on the High Priestess card, of all things, especially considering her canonical stance on people of faith. But hear me out...
For Safiya, she very much puts her faith in reason itself, and that is what her intuition (what the High Priestess represents) consistently points her towards - using her mind instead of her emotions. She is also a wise, mysterious, and understanding character, just as the High Priestess implies. Yet her logical reasoning skills are key to unpacking the deep mysteries that surround both her and Rhaine during the events of MotB, revealing those "concealed facts [and] influences" that are "yet to be discovered".
As a companion, Safiya provides a much-needed grounding in a highly-emotional, psychologically-damaging time. Even for a woman of faith like Rhaine, Safiya's presence is a reminder to trust when one's instincts tell one to use their head and think rather than rely too much on emotionally-driven impulse.
